Dear
Reader,
I
would like to take a moment and to personally thank you for your
interest and
for the time you are taking to browse our web site. I
hope that most of the information here will
be helpful to you, your birds and your friends.
In
a nutshell, what we do is simple; we accept all birds that need a
permanent
home, those that have been rescued due to neglect or abuse and also
those that
have been surrendered by their owners for various reasons.
Not
all parrots
are in need of rescue, but most
need a permanent home which means finding a new home for the adoptable
birds
that are in our care. For the well behaved, beautiful and
talkative parrots
this is an easy task, but for the neglected or abused parrots, finding
homes is
more difficult.
We
evaluate each bird, apply training when needed to
correct
behavioral problems and we work to regain the trust they lost in
humans and then we work to find appropriate homes. In most
cases the
neglected, abused and handicapped birds must remain in our
sanctuary since
they will never again do well as a companion bird.
Under
My Wing Avian Refuge educates people who are
interested in bird ownership by helping bird owners to
properly care for
their companion bird and by discussing the options they have if they
find they
can no longer care for their bird.
Likewise communications with a grieving parrot
owner can also help
the healing process, no matter what the reason for separation.
At Under
My Wing Avian Refuge we apply compassion and understanding to many
owners who
are in need.
We
invite you to share your knowledge by joining our Forum and live Chat
with
other bird owners. There is much we can learn from one another for the
best
interest of our parrots. If
your need is
to reach out to us directly, please do not hesitate to do so.
Thank
you,
Paula
